Here we'll fill you in on the names of the different versions of the Mac operating system: from the newest macOS to the first version of Mac OS X and the codenames that Apple used for them. Dec 04, 2019 The name of your macOS user account and the name of your home folder must both be the same. Changing these names does not change or reset the password of your user account. Because doing this incorrectly could damage your account and prevent you from logging in, you should back up your important data before proceeding. May 26, 2020 If your Mac is using an earlier version of any Mac operating system, you should install the latest Apple software updates, which can include important security updates and updates for the apps installed by macOS, such as Safari, Books, Messages, Mail, Music, Calendar, and Photos. After I set both names to match the Mac would still periodically drop the connection to the network volume. However, when the names matched, I was able to use a simple double-click on the server’s name in the Finder sidebar to reconnect. Additional research into how to keep a network drive mounted on Mac OS X showed others having the same.
Jun 20, 2007 Name of drive is 'Macintosh HD' (no quotes). You should also be able to manually reload the files into Dreamweaver by looking in the location they were saved in drive -OX - probably in /documents. Test where dreamweaver saves files by creating a new one, label it 'test' and looking to see where it was saved.

Mac Os X Drive Encryption
Introduction
Mac Os X Drive Name Change
If you’re running Bootcamp on your Mac, or if you’re using a Hackintosh with Windows installed on its own drive, you’ll probably find that the Windows drive shows up in Mac OS as “Untitled”
While it obviously makes no difference to the operation of the computer, it can be aesthetically annoying, and there’s no way to rename the drive in OS X, as the rename option doesn’t even appear in the menu. Fortunately, the solution is very simple and only takes a minute.
To change the drive name, you first need to boot into Windows. Once you’re in Windows, in the search box, type “Disk Management” to open the Disk Management application.
Can you install mac os on a external hard drive. Once in the Disk Management app, right click on your windows drive in the list, and click Properties.
In the window that pops up, type the name you want to give the drive in the box next to the drive icon. In my case, I just called the drive “Windows”. Then you can just click “Apply” and quit the Disk Management app.
Mac os replace boot drive internal. The next time you boot into MacOS X, you’ll find that the Windows drive appears with its new label in place of “Untitled”.
Disk Utility is a Mac OS X Snow Leopard feature that helps you perform maintenance chores on your Mac. You can use Disk Utility to see what data resides on the volumes or partitions you have on your computer. To find Disk Utility, open the Utilities folder within your Applications folder. When you first run this program, it displays all the physical disks and volumes on your system.
The Disk Utility application has its own toolbar that you can toggle on and off. Click the lozenge-shaped button in the upper-right corner of the window to display or hide the toolbar.
View the contents of your volumes with Snow Leopard’s Disk Utility.
The volume tree structure on the left of the Disk Utility window lists both the physical disks and the partitions that you’ve set up. A single physical hard drive can contain several partitions. The information display at the bottom of the Disk Utility window contains data about both the volumes and the partitions on your hard drive.

In the example shown here, clicking the drive labeled 320.07 GB (the physical hard drive at the top of the tree) displays a description of the drive itself, including its total capacity, interface (connection type), and whether the drive is internal or external.
Clicking the tree entry for Wolfgang, however — the name of the partition created when the drive was formatted — displays information about the type of formatting, the total capacity of the partition and how much of that is used, and the number of files and folders stored on the partition.
